12.07.2016 - Responsible sourcing certification for Mick George Group
Mick George Group has achieved certification against the requirements of the BES 6001 Framework Standard for its Ready Mix Concrete following an independent assessment by BSI.
The standard enables construction product manufacturers to prove that their products are made with constituent materials that have been responsibly sourced.
Responsible sourcing of construction products provides a holistic approach to managing a product from the point at which component materials are mined or harvested, through manufacture and processing.
Companies have to demonstrate supply chain management and product stewardship and consider social, economic and environmental dimensions while addressing aspects such as stakeholder engagement, labour practices and the management of supply chains serving materials sectors upstream of the manufacturer.
The scheme is recognised by the BREEAM family of certification schemes and the Code for Sustainable Homes where credits can be awarded for construction products independently certified through BES 6001.
Garry Woodcock, Head of Concrete at the Mick George Group said: ‘’We are delighted to have secured this certification which is significant in supporting the continued growth of the Mick George Group. The 6001 certificate complements the BSI kite mark that we already hold for our Ready Mix Concrete to provide our customers with the assurance of quality and sustainability.’’
