Kentford and Kennett Village Hall Opening
Cross-border relations is something that many would advocate, and nowhere is there a clearer example than in the villages of Kentford and Kennett where residents of both communities have combined to complete an ambitious project to install a new Village Hall amenity adjacent to the existing Pavilion.
The project in its entirety was valued at approximately £383,645 and owes largely to four main contributors. The two Parish Councils, a ‘Section 106’, an ECD Facilities Improvement Grant as well as £35,000 offered by local construction business Mick George Ltd, who have a site just north of the village.
During the opening ceremony, those who use the facilities showcased their activities and encouraged guests to take part in everything from dance sessions to yoga, garden games, and football. A celebratory cake was also baked to commemorate the joyous occasion.
Thrilled to be a part of the project, Michael George from Mick George Ltd was invited along to the grand opening of the Village Hall, which now hosts dance groups, karate and tennis clubs, a band, village schools, and numerous other clubs and societies weekly.
Michael George, Contracts Director, commented: “A celebratory event such as this is so refreshing to be a part of. To be able to contribute so heavily in a project which brings together two communities was a no-brainer for us. It’s fantastic that we are able to leave a lasting legacy for the residents of Kennett and Kentford.”
